How our virtual Delivery Helps Teams Deal with Real-World Business Problems
Welcome to the Leadership Vision Podcast, our show helping you build a positive team culture. Our consulting firm has been doing this work for the past 25 years, ensuring that leaders are mentally engaged and emotionally healthy.
Our team at Leadership Vision is busy. Our pace of work hasn’t changed that much since the pandemic started, but the way we are delivering and engaging with our clients has changed dramatically. Since April 2020, we’ve led teams through 31 collective days of coaching, team engagement sessions, learning communities, and we have facilitated over 100 one-to-one Strengths conversations. While we would always prefer to meet face to face with our clients, we’re starting to get the hang of this new reality and are finding new ways to leverage various aspects of our delivery.
Today on the podcast, Brian and Linda Schubring and I will recap two of our recent virtual events. We will discuss some of our biggest takeaways from these events and share how we’ve been using our platform to discuss relevant, real-time business, and team challenges with our clients. Our Core Process
One of the virtual pieces of training we’ve been doing a lot of lately is our Core Process. This includes an education session, a one-to-one Strengths conversations (for each team member), and a learning community with where each team member is highlighted through a hand drawn image used as a visual representation of how their Strengths are uniquely working together.
This cumulative experience opens the doors for participants to know each other on a deeper level. Hearing the stories of people, how they got to where they are, and better understanding their drive helps all of us to recognize and understand the multi-dimensionality of each individual. It is a reminder of just how much is below the surface.
Some participant feedback from our most recent process:
- Some of my Strengths that I perceived as weaknesses I now understand as key to who I am.
- There is a deeper, more personal work Strengths can lead me to.
- Being reminded of how my stories and experiences have truly shaped who I am and how I show up to work.
- Seeing the character of my colleagues in a new way.
- An understanding of a new side of people’s wisdom and experience.
Learning Community
The Learning Community is a culminating Team experience that integrates Strengths learning, the 1 to 1 conversations, and reflective observations shared through a visual narrative. A Leadership Vision consultant creates a visual, artistic image of how the strengths of each team member work together.
RELATED: What is a Learning Community?
Perhaps it’s the virtual format, or just a willingness from participants to discuss hard topics, but time and time again, the following topics have come up organically, and lead to some incredibly fruitful conversation that we’ve had the opportunity to help facilitate and navigate with these teams.
- Change Management
- Vendor relationships
- Listening skills
- Recognizing the risk and rewards of change
- Learning who is valued and undervalued
- Creative solutions from ‘new’ people
- Increased knowledge and respect for diverse perspective and backgrounds
- Noticing and naming consistencies – business, people, changes, shortcomings
- Inter-generational insights
What Does Your Team Need?
As all of us continue to swim through these uncertain times, consider what it is that your team needs most. Perhaps figure out what YOU need most from your team as well. Let’s use this time to lean into the challenges we all face and come out stronger on the other side.
If you’d like help talking through any of these challenges, let us know!
